Garmin Watch Face.
My daily essentials, on the watch I take outside.
fēnix 7X · 280 × 280 · MIPThe project
Personal Fenix Face began with a watch face I already liked on my Garmin. I wanted to build my own version so I could choose the font, move information to a different position and decide how it interacted with me. The motivation was simply to make something tailored to the way I use my watch.
That freedom is one of the things I appreciate most about Garmin: being able to personalise the device and have more control over it. I used AI agents to build the face in Monkey C through Connect IQ. I did not learn the language myself during this project; the agents helped turn my choices into a working implementation.
The challenge was fitting useful information into a round 280 × 280 MIP display. I worked on spacing, bitmap fonts, icons and configurable colours, with selectable fields for activity, battery, weather and other metrics available on the watch. The face uses local Garmin data without starting GPS or streaming sensors.
The implementation includes long-press interactions for opening a field’s associated Garmin app or changing the displayed metric. The image shown here comes from the simulator. After about a day of work, I had the face installed on my fēnix 7X; as of October 2026, I use it every day.
I would like to share it so that other people can use it, fork it or take inspiration for their own watch face. For now, its value to me is very concrete: something I shaped around my preferences is on my wrist every day.
